Britney Spears

K-Fed issued an emergency restraining order on Britney during the crazy police standoff that ensued last Thursday night. People Magazine reports:

Called an "emergency protective order," it is enforced for five business days. Officers did it to "stabilize the situation," confirmed Kevin Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan.

Kaplan, who did not request the restraining order, declined to say whether he would seek to extend it.

"The person it's placed upon would have to stay approximately 100 feet from the other person, or face arrest," says LAPD spokesman Mike Lopez, who could not confirm the restraining order on Spears. "In most cases, it's issued by officers when there's the possibility of imminent and immediate danger to the victim."

Added Kaplan: "Kevin doesn't want to keep his kids from being involved in [Spears's] life. But foremost is that the kids be in an environment of structure [and] stability. The next goal is to get things to a point where both parents are able to participate fully in their [children's] lives.""

See, I'm no genius, but wouldn't that whole "getting both parents to fully participate in the kid's lives" thing require the father to stop slapping restraining orders on the mother? I'm no legal specialist, nor am I a family therapist... but I just don't think it works like that. I mean, what's going to happen? When the kids go on a picnic with K-Fed and they ask daddy where mommy is, what's he going to do? Point off into the distance and say... oh, don't worry kids, do you see that chubby blob about 100 yards away? That's mommy right there! Ten bucks to the first one of you two to throw a frisbee far enough to reach her! Ahh, that's a beautiful thing... family picnics. They're a staple in a young child's life, really, and I'm just glad to see that K-Fed recognizes the importance of bringing the whole family together!
