It has now been confirmed by Amy Winehouse's record label that she has entered herself into rehab. Us Magazine reports:
"Amy decided to enter the facility today after talks with her record label, management, family and doctors," Universal Music Group said in a statement obtained by the Associated Press.
"She has come to understand that she requires specialist treatment to continue her ongoing recovery from drug addiction.""
Well, that's good that she's finally getting help... I wonder what triggered it... was it her general drug addiction or the fact that she was caught on videotape smoking crack the other day? It's probably both, but you just know that the latter had something to do with it. Sometimes people have to get caught doing bad things before change can really happen.
It kind of reminds me of this one time when I was a kid... I would I always steal cookies from the cookie jar and replace it with stale pieces of bread i cut up in circles. Sure, my mom knew I was a thief and a damn liar the whole time... but it wasn't until she actually caught me doing it that she decided to face the fact that her son was a scumbag and punish me. That led to many subsequent screaming matches and numerous family therapy sessions... but we're cool now. I think the whole thing brought us closer, really.
So, overall, I'd have to say it was pretty much a blessing in disguise. You should see me and my family now, we're all on some heavy prescription meds, but we get along like a damn Hallmark made-for-tv movie. With that said, we can only hope that Amy's rehab experience has a similar outcome!
