Singer Natalie Cole has spoken out about her disgust with Amy Winehouse's 5 Grammys! She thinks that the Grammys shouldn't have given Amy those awards because she's in a bad place right now with drugs, and that sends the wrong message to children! Us Magazine says:
"It's a slap in the face to musicians and artists who work very hard that they turn around and give it to someone who really obviously doesn't have a grasp of what she has. I've been in this business over 25 years and I sacrificed five years of my own life on drugs and almost lost my life because of it.
"So I take great offense to almost see someone getting glory out of being in the position that they're in — she needs to get her life together and embrace her craft, she will lose it if she doesn't get it together.""
Thank you! Finally someone is saying something meaningful here about Amy Winehouse! I mean, what kind of message do little kids get when they see Amy all messed up on drugs, getting caught on videotape smoking crack, and getting questioned by police because for possible drug possession charges, and then just a few days later she wins 5 Grammy awards and she's on top of the music world! She could even get a visa to come to the United States and accept her award because of her drug use! So what does that tell little children who are working hard and staying clean day in and day out so that they can be most successful in whatever it is that they wish to do!? Especially when they don't see immediate success in their lives... they're better off throwing everything they have here away, heading overseas, moving into a crack-house, kicking a puppy, and preparing themselves for a long life of prostitution once they hit adulthood! Forget about the Grammys, with that kind of resume, they could be president!
