Reports now say that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie gave over $8 Million in charitable donations in 2006! That's a lot of cash money! Specifically, People Magazine reports:
All told, they gave more than $8 million in donations in 2006, with Pitt putting in $4,402,317, and Jolie donating $4,123,613, the Huffington Post reports, citing newly released federal tax filings. (These latest figures don't include 2007 – in which, among other charitable efforts, Brad's Make It Right Foundation raised $5 million.)
In terms of dispensing their funds, according to records for 2006, the foundation handed out $2,367,935, including $1 million to both Doctors Without Borders (International Division) and to the Global AIDS Alliance."
See all of that sounds nice, but I'm wondering if that was really for charity or if they just sort of arranged a deal with the world that for each kid a third-world country gave to them, they would throw down about a million for various good causes. Not to mention the extra cash that they needed to pay off the corrupt political leaders of those countries so they could smuggle the kids to America. Honestly, it's just not as easy as you think to start a collection of real live children from third-world countries... it takes a lot of time, money, and effort. Sure, you can probably pick up a few little kids here and there... but if you really want a powerful, well-rounded collection... you're really gonna have to try pretty hard. It's like any rare baseball card collection really... you have to be prepared to sacrifice to really have something worth-while, and Angelina clearly knows this!
All right, all right, I'm just kidding. Maybe Brad and Angelina are actually philanthropic and they might just realize that their millions are a little excessive and they have some sort of duty to give to the world.. so I appreciate that. There are also two other very specific things that Angelina has that puts her on my good side too... here's a hint... they make her a very "well-rounded" individual! Think about it!
