Charlton Heston died Saturday night after displaying symptoms of Alzheimer's disease a few years ago. Us Magazine reports:
Lydia, his wife of 64 years, was by his side.
Heston won an Oscar in 1959 for his role in Ben-Hur. He's portrayed Moses, Michelangelo and el Cid. He also became heavily involved in the National Rifle Association, serving as president from 1998 until 2003."
You know, I always kind of didn't appreciate Charlton's excessive enthusiasm for guns, not that I'm a crazy hippie liberal by any means, I'm just not so cool with guns killing people all the time. But regardless of your political views, you can't deny this guy was a legend, and having lived what seems like a full life, it's only right to celebrate his life rather than only mourn. He was in a whole bunch of old school movies like Ben-Hur and The Ten Commandments that I always new were supposed to be really good, but were just too long for my attention span. Either way, I know that Charlton was an absolute legend, or just a "leg" (pronounced "ledge") for short. So, here's to you Charlton and your prosperous life. May it continue in another world. Rest in peace, good sir.
