Some people are now pointing the finger at Billy Ray Cyrus and holding him responsible for his 15-year-old daughter's regretful Vanity Fair Photoshoot! Us Magazine says:
On Monday's O'Reilly Factor, he said the country singer had been "canny" about keeping his 15-year-old daughter (who earned $18.2 million last year) out of scandal.
"Then they go into Vanity Fair — which is not her audience at all," he said. "He puts her into a situation where she becomes, at 15, a sex symbol.
"Middle America," O'Reilly added, "they don't like this."
Though O'Reilly said he thinks "Miley is a nice girl," she made "a bad decision."
His suggestion? "She should do Oprah and say, 'We made a mistake, here's why and it won't happen again,'" O'Reilly advised."
You know what, I hate the Oprah show. It's like some sort of publicized emotional band-aid where troubled normal people and troubled celebrities alike can go on there and reach out to the world and apologize and seek comfort through forgiveness. And, of course everyone who goes on that show leaves with some sort of positive experience... which, obviously is not surprising because the main demographic that watches that show is comprised of pre-menopausal 40-somethings (who usually have a not-so-secret love for wearing khaki shorts) that are so emotionally distraught themselves that they're just looking for the opportunity to share someone else's pain and forgive them in what they like to call a "catharsis of emotion". Sounds like a cult... and I'm tired of it.
I did just realize something though, if celebrities were smart, they would by-pass the whole rehab thing and just go on to Oprah and talk about their problems publicly. They would walk in alcoholics and leave the show being revered as fearless self-examiners! Ahh, all that, right in the public eye, and for free! Think of all the money these troubled celebs could have saved if they had just gone to Oprah instead of rehab!
