Jessica Alba says she's going to be one tough mother! People Magazine reports:
And though she finds herself craving citrus products during her pregnancy, when it comes to what she'll allow as a mother, she says: "I don't want to be my child's best friend; I want to be a mom. But I do want my child to come to me when they have problems and need to talk, so it's going to be about treading that line.""
You know, I actually think that being a tough mother is a good choice by Jessica... most of the kids I know who had tough moms who weren't their best friends and actually were just tough broad moms turned out okay. I think discipline goes a long way. However, I remember way back when I was growing up... my mom was pretty much my best friend at times, but a stern disciplinarian when she needed to be.
For instance, when I was about 12-years-old she put a big plastic jug of vodka in front of me and said "Son, it's about time you learned how to drink." And we sat there taking shots until the sun went down. But, then, when I was stumbling around by the end of the night, she stepped right in and put some cigarettes out on me! Ahh, see, the best of both worlds! Thanks, Mom!
