Patrick Swayze Is Healthy and Working!

Patrick Swayze

Patrick Swayze has returned to acting for the first time since being diagnosed with cancer.

Swayze was seen yesterday filming “The Beast,” a new A&E television show in which he plays an FBI agent. The show will air in 2009.

Swayze announced back in March that he had pancreatic cancer. He was forced to undergo chemotherapy treatment. Witnesses that saw Swayze on set yesterday said the actor looked healthy and in good spirits.

Swayze recently referred to himself as a “miracle.” He was originally given very little time to live, but has thus far overcome the odds and is still going strong. One reason may be his attitude. Larry Gilliard Jr., Swayze’s co-star on “The Beast,” recently told PEOPLE:

Patrick is an amazing person. He's so positive. I'm really looking forward to getting back to work with him."

Swayze is a great actor -- nothing beats “Road House” -- and by all accounts a tremendous human being. It’s unfortunate that people like Amy Winehouse can live with total disregard for their own well-being and still keep chugging along, while Swayze comes down with a terminal disease.

Some people believe that everything happens for a reason, or that there’s some masterplan behind all of this, but I happen to think life is more like a game of poker. The people who practice and accumulate knowledge and play the game the right way often succeed, but sometimes you just get dealt a terrible hand. You can either fold and give up, or push your chips into the pile and go for it, but no matter how hard you try, sometimes you get a bad card on the river, and then you either have to go fish or pray for a blackjack, and if the little metal ball doesn’t land on red, well then… alright, I’ll be honest, I have no idea how to play poker. I was just trying to impress you guys. I’m sorry.
