Accident Was Not Shia LaBeouf's Fault!

Shia LaBeouf

After investigating the Shia LaBeouf accident, Los Angeles police have determined that LaBeouf was not at fault.

LaBeouf was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor DUI early Sunday morning. He was making a left turn when his truck was hit by another vehicle and rolled over. LaBeouf had to be taken to the hospital for hand surgery, and production of Transformers 2, which is currently filming, has been delayed one month.

L.A. Sheriff spokesperson Steve Whitmore tells US Magazine:

The other car ran a red light and, if not already, they will be cited. They will now be listed as Party One on the report, indicating they were at fault."

So the other car was at fault? This doesn’t excuse LaBeouf for driving drunk, but I do think it sends an important message about the dangers of driving while sober. DWS can be just as dangerous as DWI, sometimes even more so, and this accident serves as perfect evidence of that. Thankfully, no innocent drunk people were harmed by this reckless sober driver, but not everyone is so lucky. Just 3 years ago, my best friend was killed by a sober driver. It’s hard for me to even type those words.

That’s why I started the organization IWASD (“Internet Writers Against Sober Driving”). It’s been an uphill battle, but so far we’ve helped reduce the number of DWS accidents by 32% since 2005. I just hope this high-profile case will finally get the message across. Kids, it’s not cool to drive while sober. Just look at what happened to “Transformers 2” star Shia LaBeouf. If you’re thinking about driving while sober, please, don’t.
