Eighteen year old musical sensation Taylor Swift left high school during her sophomore year and went on to become one of the biggest stars in country and pop music, thanks to hits like “Our Song,” “Picture to Burn,” that one about that guy, that other one about that guy, and that other one about that other guy.
Even though Swift left public school, she continued on with home schooling, and this summer she was able to earn her high school diploma.
Swift spoke about the value of an education to PEOPLE:
"It's really good to know you don't have to give up on your dreams to graduate high school, and you don't have to quit your education to live your dreams," says Swift. "It's really cool that you can do both."
If earning a diploma was important to Swift, then all I can say is, congratulations Taylor. Although, I don’t understand why so many celebrities feel the need to go back and finish their formal education. The whole point of getting a diploma is so you can get a good job one day. Taylor Swift already has a job. She sings songs that make fun of her 36 ex-boyfriends and is adored by young girls across the world. Some might call that the greatest job in the world. If she wants that diploma, great, but what’s the point? It’s like buying a Dodge Stratus when you already own a teleportation machine.
