Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, gained control of the singer’s finances earlier this year after courts deemed Britney was acting too erratically to make her own financial decisions. Yesterday an L.A. court ruled that Jamie Spears would remain in control of Britney’s finances until the end of the year.
Britney agreed to the deal, but not happily. From the Associated Press:
The conservatorship seemed very appropriate several months ago, when Britney’s antics were out of control. However, she has kept herself in check lately, concentrating on work and, for the most part, staying out of the limelight. If these trends continue, Britney should be fully capable of making her own financial decisions in 2009.
Of course, I’m looking forward to the January 2009 Associated Press story about how Jamie Spears is driving around in a Maserati with a supermodel wearing a $150,000 necklace while Britney is recording a “Kidz Bop” album so she’ll have enough money to pick up dinner at In-N-Out Burger. That should be fun.
