Hayden Panettiere's father, Alan Panettiere, was arrested yesterday for allegedly striking Hayden's mom, Lesley Panettiere. Now, just one day after the arrest, Alan was released last night on bail and is now calling the whole domestic abuse scandal a "big misunderstanding." OK! Magazine reports:
“It was all a big misunderstanding,” the parents of the Heroes star tell TV's Extra, claiming that “nothing actually happened... Lesley wasn’t even aware that Skip had been arrested...”
According to the report, Mr. and Mrs. Panettiere “love each other very much and want everyone to know that the matter was completely blown out of proportion.”
Yesterday, a representative from the West Hollywood Sheriff's Dept. told OK! that Lesley had been "struck three times," but declined both medical assistance and the offer of an emergency protection order against her husband. Alan was released last night on $50,000 bail."
Yea, you know, when you go to the grocery store and you have about 20 rolls of 2-ply toilet paper on the bottom part of your carriage and the cashier accuses you of trying to steal the T.P. when you really just honestly forgot that was there, that's a misunderstanding. When you wind up and strike your wife with a closed fist multiple times, I'm not quite sure what in that situation can be "misunderstood."
My guess is that Alan thought he could mislead the public by using multi-syllable words like "misunderstanding." Pretty soon he'll realize that the public isn't that stupid and he'll clearly go to plan B. Which, of course, is REHAB! Seriously! If you don't believe me, just give it some time, you'll see!
