Monday night, Drew Carey confirmed on the "Late Show With David Letterman" that he would indeed be the next host of "The Price Is Right." Carey announced that he would replace the 83 year-old Bob Barker who retired in June after a 35 year gig that was nothing short of legendary.
And what does Drew himself have to say about taking on the new position? The New York Times says:
Ultimately, Carey said:
Apparently it's all about sharing the wealth, but what about the love? Poor Bob, I never thought that I would see that day when he would fully retire. I always thought that they would at the very least wait until he passed away and wire his dead body to a mechanical system so that he could move around the stage like a marionette.
I admit, that would be creepy, but at least Bob would never fully leave us. In fact, I'm not so sure if they haven't already done that in the most recent episodes I've seen. I mean, he's got to be what, like 130 years-old by now?
It is a shame though. This guy was one of the best things about snow days when I was a kid. As far as I'm concerned, the show is a part of me... or at least a part of some of the best times in my life.
I guess Drew's okay though. I just hope that he never does the show naked and forces contestants to suck on his bare nipples. What!? I could definitely see Drew asking producers if they could make that happen. I guess the world can only wait and see though. Until then, goodnight my children.
