Because sleeping with 13 year old girls isn't cool, Roman Polanski has been denied bail by the Swiss courts. According to the Associated Press:
Noting his previous escape from U.S. authorities, Switzerland's top criminal court on Tuesday rejected Polanski's appeal to be released from prison because of the "high" risk that the 76-year-old director would try to flee again.
Polanski's offers of bail, house arrest and electronic monitoring failed to sway the tribunal. Even a Swiss chalet in the luxury resort of Gstaad was brushed aside as insufficient collateral to guard against Polanski fleeing the country, as the United States seeks to have him extradited for having sex with a 13-year-old girl in 1977.

It's always nice to see justice somewhat served, even if it is 30 years late. I had no idea you could commit a crime and simply move to Europe to avoid punishment altogether. I might run a midget sex trafficking business for a couple of years, accumulate millions because everyone wants to have sex with a midget at least once, and then move to Portugal where I'll live happily til 2039 when the U.S. government finally comes after me.
