In case you've been living in a cardboard box and stole a laptop to read this blog, you know that Haiti was hit by an earthquake that pretty much turned them from poor to really, really poor. Well, the relief effort has been huge, and now Leonardo DiCaprio has decided to donate $1,000,000 to the country according to AFP:
The pair established their Haiti fund to respond to needs in the country and improve the quality of life for victims of the devastating earthquake.
"I salute Leonardo DiCaprio for his extraordinary generosity," president George W. Bush said. "This donation sends a clear message to the people of Haiti that America's commitment to helping rebuild their country is strong.
That's great, but I hope he put some kind of tracking device on his $1 million. I have a feeling the actual people of Haiti see about 8% of that with the rest going to the foundation and the corrupt Haitian government. In the end, that million bucks will rebuild the roof of one guy's house.
