Why Travis Barker's Plane Went Up in Flames

More information has surfaced regarding the plane crash that injured Travis Barker and DJ AM and killed four other people. Federal officials have announced that tires on the Learjet were underinflated. The fact that the tires were not properly inflated played a part in the crash.

The National Transportation Safety Board stated that the underinflated tires "seriously affected the stopping capability of the aircraft."

A lawsuit was filed by DJ AM shortly after the crash. He claimed that he knew one or more of the tires blew during takeoff. The estate of DJ AM reached a settlement because of his claim: "rather than proceed to takeoff, [the pilots] decided to abort and/or reject the takeoff in a negligent manner."

It's unfortunate that the crash took place at all, and took the lives of four passengers, but it is a miracle that Travis Barker and DJ AM got away relatively unscathed. All because of a blown tire.
