It turns out that Britney Spears' new album, "Blackout," WILL NOT finish at the top of the album charts after its first week of sales, but rather The Eagles' first new album released in the past 28 years, "Long Road Out of Eden," will finish at number 1, while "Blackout" will be at a distant second.
Britney's album was originally projected to finish at number 1, however, Billboard has decided to allow exclusive album titles that are only available at a limited number of retailers to actually be included on The Billboard 200 and other charts. Previously, this was not the case, and such exclusive albums would be excluded from such charts. Specifically, Billboard.com reports:
It is now possible for The Eagles' new album to compete with Britney's "Blackout" because:
Okay. Now that The Eagles' record is included, how badly did it beat out Britney Spears' "Blackout" album in the first week of sales? Billboard.com further reports:
Wow, so, The Eagles' outsold Britney's new album by more than double! So much for celebrating with nacho cheese chalupas and mocha Frappuccinos. Instead, it looks like Britney's just going to have to drown out her horrible failures by... well, uh... drinking mocha Frappuccinos and eating nacho cheese chalupas. Eh, so it looks like not so much has changed after all.
Then again, once The Eagles were allowed to compete, did Britney really think she had a chance against a legendary band like that? If she did, she must live in her own little unexplainable world of insanity. And that's just not possible... she appears to be far too stable for any allegations of insanity to be true. Yep, it's not even an option really.
Honestly, though, I think Britney's album sales would have really taken off if she had promoted it better... maybe if she used former pornstar Ron Jeremy's video of her hit song "Gimme More" to promote her album, sales would have done better! Check it out in the YouTube video below!
