Sigh. The golden Matt Lauer years (which is a phrase that no one actually uses) are coming to an end. For the first time in 15 years, NBC needs to find a new male anchor for "Today." Matt Lauer is leaving the the show for good.
NBC wants to replace him with Ryan Seacrest. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Seacrest had an informal meeting with the network this week to talk about it. It doesn't make sense to me because Matt Lauer was a real journalist with some credibility and Ryan Seacrest just has nice hair. True, the "Today" show doesn't cover hard-hitting stuff, but really: who likes Ryan Seacrest? Even his girlfriend knows she is just his beard.
